It melts fast so it is important to eat it very quickly and that's what makes sharing it easy to do with a friend.
The fruity dense and sweet creamy consistency would be found from none other than soda! the connection of soda to the amazing guri guri ice cream. The recipe includes fruit soda, lemon lime soda, sweetened condensed milk, and heavy whipping cream. It will start to foam and grow in volume before it is placed in a container that goes in the freezer, until it becomes guri guri ice cream. Guri Guri Ice Cream (aka. Goodie Goodie Ice Cream), in which its name is suppose to suggest that is something good good to eat. I is a frozen dessert that is a ice cream and yet like a sherbert in its texture. In many cases in which a dessert may call for a sherbert it would be commonly replaced with guri guri ice cream for its preferred taste of the local population that just couldn't get enough of it. Soda to Maui specialty Ice Cream It has also been called Plantation Sherbert, and for many years there are many who would try to replicate it or ask for the recipe from the Tasaka Family. For many years the recipe was secret and then one day it wasn't, but anyone who wants the for real best kine will support Tasaka Guri Guri. So whenever people go to Maui and if they like desserts it is always a sure stop for locals and tourists alike. It was first made by Jokichi Tasaka (in Japan) and passed on to Gunji Tasaka migrated to the US to run "Tasaka Guri-Guri" which would be the seen as the origins of Guri Guri Ice Cream. It quickly grew to be a specialty of Maui Island in Hawaii and started at Pu'unene Avenue and moved to Wailuku and then to Old Kahului Shopping Center and lastly to Kahului (1973). Tasaka Guri Guri began selling assorted sweets which would include mochi, manju, senbei and other Japanese snacks. Many of these have evolved on Maui as home made sweets with fillings of mochi being known as Maui Mochi. Guri Guri was very popular even after the owners passing and inspired Drive-Inns that would feature it and have it served in a multitude of ways. There was even a Goodie Goodie Drive Inn that opened on Oahu, since many Oahu residents would bring the treat from Maui whenever they flew over by plane. Guri Guri Ice Cream Varieties It is still known after all the years of its existence from the 1900s. While strawberry guri guri had been the ice cream of choice that locals would enjoy for years and even travel to Maui just for a taste and bring it home to their family. As it may have had humble beginnings as a treat for hot weather days its following has been growing and thus the interest in multiple flavors has brought back interest into olden days soda flavors. Many flavors of soda would arise in the home-made guri guri ice cream of locals who tried to make their own. This would result in flavors like: Vanilla Bean Guri Guri, Mango Guri Guri, Classic Pineapple Guri Guri, Lilikoi Guri Guri, Kona Red Guri Guri, Fruit Punch Guri Guri, Tasaka Strawberry Guri Guri, Grape Guri Guri, Orange Passion Guri Guri, Cola Guri Guri, Root Beer Guri Guri, and Green River Guri Guri. As many other desserts in Hawaii there have been a few standardized flavors that make them the Dessert Flavors of Hawaii. And as usual it includes flavors from Shave Ice, Ice Cream, and Cakes as they often times overlap. This includes: Blue Vanilla Cream Guri Guri, Haupia Guri Guri, Hawaiian Kulolo Guri Guri, Kona Coffee Guri Guri, Green Tea Guri Guri, Cotton Candy Guri Guri, Peach Guri Guri, and Li Hing Mui Guri Guri. Expanded Dishes with Guri Guri Ice Cream Locations that are known for that heavy cream of condensed milk guri guri ice cream have brainstormed a few ways on how to expand its application to sweet desserts. It can take the form of being apart of : Fruit Smoothies, Fruit Smoothie Bowls or paired with Hawaiian Tarts, and warm Bread Pudding. The old fashioned guri guri ice cream was starting to be used in a number of ways to savior the experience that makes it unique.
