The atmosphere in Animanga groups in school are targeted towards anti-social watching that can be done at home, drawing alone with the end idea to show their friends a picture that can be done online at home, and looking online to talk or play games that have animanga themes that also can be done at home. There is not much that is appealing about a group of people that are doing the same thing they could be doing in their own bedrooms, the only difference is that it is inside a club that unifies their tasks without questioning the reason for meeting if its for the same old stuff, this of course has no benefit to the social meaning of the club that people are interested in.
Otaku women are seen to be expected to come to anti-social events, but from a womans needs of social stimulation with discussion of topics, understanding of each persons unique stories to themselves, and going out to do things that are unattainable alone in a room are what is needed to be interesting. Ignoring the social needs of people is the same as ignoring the fact that clubs are ment to be social and makes no sense to even have a club. Regardless of anyone ignoring the social meaning to a club the group still exists in its anti social way, the club is very unattractive in how it is set up for encouraging anti social hobbies, the club is set up that drama will form for those who are bored and want something to do by talking about negative judgement calls of other members. It begins to breed negativity in new ways by ignoring the idea of being social in the club. For girls who are interested in anime, there are many different reasons they consider for when they decide to join an anime club. For example, socialization is a big part of what girls want for when they join a club. This is partly due to the fact that girls tend to join this clubs to make friends and meet new people. An example of this would be the club members going out to eat a meal together or do another social activity such as karaoke. Another important aspect to girls who join clubs is safety. If a situation is unsafe within a club, it increases the chance that the girl will not want to return to future meetings or participate in any club activities, and ultimately might leave the club for a new one or choose to enjoy their interests alone. A third important factor in a girl choosing to join a club is outreach activities. Girls like the feeling of helping other people while supporting a cause, in this case, anime and anime culture, that is important to them. Examples of outreach activities include club recruitment fairs run by the school, cultural workshops run by club members, and club fairs held for the general public. In order to fulfill the goal of making anime clubs more friendly towards girls, it is necessary to have a strong club foundation and a club president who understands the need for members to get along well with each other. This may be achieved by having open communication and follow up about what is important to club members in order to keep an interest in the club alive. Maintaining open communication in a club setting can be done in person at a club meeting or anonymously through meetings with club advisers, to address varying comfort levels and based on the severity of issues. Necessary actions for following up on the issues the club is presented with and actively seeks to prevent would also be decided through group meetings or anonymous feedback done through improvement reviews. In addition, the club advisers would work together to decide on appropriate actions to be taken in response to offenses, depending on the severity of the offense, as well as number of occurrences by an individual who performed the offense. Possible appropriate actions in response to various offenses include verbal warnings, temporary or permanent bans from attending club meetings and functions, and reparation and/or apology to the person or persons affected. A zero tolerance stance in response to harassment and violence towards any club member will be effective in decreasing instances of harassment. Whenever there are times that people want social change to make the club more outgoing or for heightened security practices... there are always a large amount of opposing members. The reason for this, is that every member joined the club for acceptance of their anti-social hobbies, so why would they want to encourage social hobbies in the club? The way that members are recruited based on the anti-social basis flows through the voting of the members and their group decisions on continuing in the path they have ultimately decided to take. However, this will not stop them from judging women for not coming into the club in always wondering why they dont want to join the Animanga club by hiding behind the banner of “anime & manga social group” in the names definition, even though the way it is set up it does not fulfill the ideal of the socializing of the group. With this going on it makes women feel pushed to the side and ignored with all their needs not met and are yet still expected to entice male members of the club. Until things are set up for both entertainment and safety in equal of both genders to a more balanced group... many women turn around and walk away from animanga clubs or groups altogether.
