Formerly located Downtown the Queen street cafe & grill is now a resident of Aiea. It hides in the corner of the Aiea Town Square with a lovely smell of grilled goodness that makes you hungry for plate lunch. If your not sure what to get a recommended order would be the UH Sports Special which comes with a mix of some of the popular ordered dishes, like kiawe grilled steak, furikake garlic chicken, ahi katsu, and luncheon meat. Or, the Fire Cracker Shrimp that people love for the spiciness with a crunch and thick breading of the okazuya style tempura. There is really good fried rice that comes with eggs. There was a predecessor restaurant named "Queen Bee's Bar & Grill" before it became Queen Street Cafe & Grill. The owner Gwen Alejo-Herring who opened up shop had the idea of smell drawing in customers to the savory smells of grilled foods. With many local foods it can be tracked back to the families enjoyment of cooking. One particular dish that can be traced is the specialty of Gwen's brother who made Guava Smoked Pork. |
